Auto Fun: What Was Your Teenage Dream Car?

teenage dream car SewellThe adolescent years are full of all types of riveting milestones. Your first kiss, your first job, and, of course, getting your drivers permit and hitting the road.

What was your teenage dream car?

Jay Leno wished for a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB4 as a teen and bought one as an adult.1 Justin Bieber didn’t have to wait – he was driving a Lamborghini at the age of sixteen. The perks of wealth!

Most Sewell teens, like myself, didn’t get to select what vehicle they got to drive. And some adolescents didn’t even get to drive Dad’s old beater.  At seventeen, I would dream about fancy sports cars. I’d close my eyes and picture myself cruising around Sewell with the top down in a Ferrari F430 Spider.

The F430 Spider stole my heart as a kid and it still does. With its classic Ferrari styling, huge engine, and the velocity of a race car, it would have exceeded all my expectations.

I even knew the optimal color: Nero black with black rims so I would look stealthy everywhere I went. I’d throw in the yellow brake calipers to match the Ferrari emblems and I’d of course opt for the red leather seats. Thinking about it now makes me wish I could go buy one!

Price is no limit in your imagination. In real life, a Ferrari F430 would set me back a couple hundred thousand dollars so I won’t be purchasing one any time soon. But that doesn’t stop me from fantasizing.

We are a full-service automotive repair shop located in Sewell. Whether you drive your dream car or not, Miles Auto Service will help you keep it in ideal condition!

What Do Those Numbers On My Tire Mean?

In 1971, the NHTSA mandated a Tire Identification Number (TIN) to aid in contacting owners regarding tire defects or recalls. This requirement entails manufacturers imprinting a unique TIN on at least one sidewall of every tire. The TIN provides vital information, though decoding its components is necessary. While not all components are legally required, a typical TIN includes a combination of numbers and letters detailing essential tire information.

Your Parking Brake and You

It goes by many names: parking brake, emergency brake, handbrake, E brake. When used properly it can be one of the most important safety features on your car. This secondary breaking system was created to be used in the case of brake system failure. These days most of the safety benefit comes from using it when you park your car.

How Algorithms Affect Your Driving

“Algorithm” is a big, scary word. But, boiled down, all an algorithm is a set of specific rules that are followed (usually by a computer) to solve a problem. Often the problem that needs to be solved is a prediction for a company so they can improve their business.

Fender-Bender? Important Do’s and Dont’s

It happens all the time on Sewell streets and in parking lots. A driver hits another automobile at slow speed. The damage is minimal. Nobody is hurt. So the motorists exchange insurance information and agree to leave it at that. Why call a police officer for something so minor?
